Mythological History: The (ancient) temple of Athi Perumal viz., Sri Perundevi Thayar Sametha Sri Varadaraja Perumal has been radiating grace from Puliyur Village, Vyakrapuri also known as Kovilpalayam , Karur District.
This special shrine is situated on the southern banks of the Amaravathi river. This east facing Vaishnavite temple positioned in the centre of the village with its 13th century (circa) Chola sculptural display , bestows the benign blessings on the devotees.
